Zuri Kumarakom, Kerala: Indian-Dutch Eco-friendly Destination Wedding

Zuri Kumarakom was the landing strip for what you’d call an exotic, fully-entertaining multi-cultural soiree that had us at hello. The premise was simple, an Indian girl got married to a Dutch boy in a simple ceremony where there was no real wedding. There was just an exchange of vows with a lot of fanfare and so many sweet quotes. Sigh, such is life, you wonder as you take in every little thing that makes this wedding a wholesome, gorgeous affair.

There are a few things that immediately strike you when you glance at this beauty of a setting. The attention to details like the wedding trousseau that’s so unique and subtle but really, colourful and effortless. From bright reds at the pre-wedding shoot to the subtle pastels at the wedding alongside spectacular Meenakari jewellery - there’s so much to love here. The biggest draw is of course the fact that at it’s very core, this one’s an eco-friendly green wedding that’s also multicultural in it’s outlook.

Guests came from all over the world, 45 countries, 6 continents to be precise. To add to the drama, the couple were environmentalists at heart, so a green wedding it is with no plastic and unnecessary wastage. The events were filled with so many interesting nuggets:a boat race between families, the entry of the bride with her dad on a boat, the groom’s baarat that came on 20 bicycles and more!

It was a story of individuality and spice, the couple designed it all on their own and did not follow the rules. That to us, says only thing - strong, sweet and totally off-beat in every way.

Sheraton Grand Chennai Resort & Spa Wedding: Love was in the Air at This Beach Wedding

Karan and Disha got married in Chennai in a Sindhi style wedding by the beach. The couple exchanged their vows in a romantic beach ceremony at the Sheraton Grand Chennai Resort & Spa Wedding, with the Bay of Bengal as the backdrop. The razzle-dazzle of the Sindhi wedding rituals was a sight to behold, and we could not but capture those moments with our lenses.

Sindhis are known for their extravagant lifestyle, and the same is visible in their weddings, too. Their weddings are all about music, dance, rich rituals and good food! And when a Sindhi wedding happens by the seaside, nothing can match the extravaganza.

Fun, Games And Party

The celebrations started with a carnival, and the pastel-hued décor was simple yet stunning. There were floral archway decorations, festoons, lanterns and romantic lights on the tables.

And what is a beach wedding without games? There were plenty of games. While the bride and groom arrived with balloons and smoke bombs, games like shooting, hoop, and dart kept the air lively, and we had fun shooting those playful moments.

The engagement-cum-sangeet was a colourful affair, with the couple making a grand entry to the accompaniment of pyro. The bride looked gorgeous in a red sequined dress. Soon after the entry, they went to the stage and mesmerised everyone with a couple dance.

At the sangeet, everyone, irrespective of age, let their hair down and danced till they dropped. The guests also utilised the time to know each other and exchange pleasantries.

Amidst all the fun and frolic, we did capture some of the lovey-dovey moments of the couple! The guests, too, joined the merriment, and we clicked plentiful candid shots!

Dreamy Wedding

The gracefully decorated mandap on the beach looked breathtakingly beautiful with the moon shining behind. The baarat arrived by a vintage car to the accompaniment of dhol and live music by musicians. The guests danced to the energetic beats of the dhol, and all of them had absolute fun.

The handsome groom, Karan, was wearing ethnic wedding wear to go with the Sindhi wedding rituals, along with a decorated headgear and dagger. Bride Disha was charmingly attired in a pink lehenga with the uncut diamonds adding to the dazzle. Her hands were decorated with deep red mehndi, and the faces of the bride and groom were drawn using Mehendi on her arms. The bride was guided to the mandap with a phoolon ki chaadar.

At the venue, the bride’s parents extended a formal welcome to the groom and his family.  The members of the families introduced themselves and embraced each other. The bride, too, came out to welcome her future husband. As the groom placed his foot on the bride as part of the Sindhi wedding rituals, the family members washed the bride's feet and the groom in milk and led them to the venue.

At the mandap, the bride and groom stood facing each other, and the Jai mala, exchanging garlands, took place. Rose petals were showered on the couple as a symbol of blessing as the duo became man and wife!

Sindhi Wedding Rituals

A Sindhi wedding is based on Vedic traditions, and holy fire or yagna is a part of it. Prayers were first offered to Lord Ganesha, and the priest recited verses from Holy Scriptures invoking Gods to bless the newly married couple. The groom had carried a pink cloth with him, and it was tied to a white cloth held by the bride and both their right hands were tied with a holy red thread. This custom is known as hathialo.

The pheras are at the heart of the Sindhi wedding rituals, and they follow four pheras instead of the commonly observed seven pheras. While the groom led the first three pheras, the bride led the fourth phera. This was followed by the Kanyadaan ceremony in which Disha’s father handed over his daughter to her husband and poured holy water on the hands of his son-in-law.

The wedding was followed by a grand reception at Sheraton Grand Chennai Resort & Spa, where every guest got to enjoy the best of wines and plentiful good food with a DJ spinning some lively music. The hashtag, #Kaisha (abbreviation to Karan & Disha), with the wordings Gift of God, felt appropriate as the couple looked into each other’s eyes with love and admiration throughout.

The scenic venue and the gorgeous couple offered us abundant opportunities to capture, from classy, romantic poses to cute candid poses from their beach wedding!

Conrad Bengaluru: An Intimate Marwari Wedding

An Enchanting Union of Two Lively Souls

Every wedding has a story to tell. Charu and Vardhan’s wedding weaved a story of fun, frolic, and love celebrated in the company of dear ones at a wonderful venue, Conrad Bengaluru. This Marwari wedding was a union of the chirpiness of Charu with the chivalrousness of Vardhan. Their gorgeous wedding was sprinkled with a lot of picture-perfect moments for the young couple to cherish even as they entered a bond of lifelong love and togetherness.

The Impressive Venue

There’s no denying that the venue plays a significant part in any wedding. Charu and Vardhan selected a venue that had all the elements to make their wedding as grand an affair as they wanted it to be: the remarkable Conrad Bengaluru. With its stunning décor and contemporary feel, this modern property served as an amazing backdrop for the three-day intimate fairy tale wedding ceremony.

The gorgeous couple made the most of the lush venue by posing for an incredible couple shoot on the rooftop. The bride happily twirled in her lehenga. We were more than happy to capture every moment for them.

Super-Fun Haldi Ceremony

Charu and Vardhan’s wedding saga began with the Haldi ceremonies. Charu’s haldi was a vibrant affair organized at the hotel. The bride and her family adorned bright yellow outfits and had a lot of fun during the photoshoot on the lawns of the hotel.

We discovered the gorgeous bride also loves to pose, and there was no stopping her as she went through the shoot with unbridled energy and happy vibes. The bride’s family went for a flower shower that added to the fun and frolic. We had a gala time capturing stunning portraits of the bride as well as the whole event. The bride posing with her cute little niece during the flower shower made for some endearing shots.

At Vardhan’s haldi organized at his home, the mood was equally upbeat. The groom’s family went for a small intimate ceremony attended by his loved ones.

Sparkling Sangeet Event

Sangeet was a mesmerising event celebrated at the hotel. The smart couple dressed up in black and red and looked absolutely stunning. We couldn’t wait to get them to pose for some portrait shots by the stairs. To say the least, they looked spectacular and completely in love. The couple dance performance was the highlight of the evening. It was followed by the ring exchange ceremony.

A Charming Pastel Wedding

The wedding was an intimate affair at the hotel. Decked up in a beautiful pastel baby pink lehenga and stunning jewellery, the bride looked graceful. On his part, the groom looked handsome in his elegant Sherwani. The groom’s father helped him in getting ready, and that gave us a scope to capture some beautiful moments for them to look back on. Together, the couple made for a splendid picture, thanks to their well-coordinated outfits and the happy glow on their faces!

Baarat was an extremely fun event. The groom arrived in a pastel floral buggy driven by his brother. His relatives danced their hearts out in the baarat. The bride’s side welcomed the groom by joining in the dancing with equal enthusiasm. The bride’s mother led the groom to the mandap.

It was a sight to behold when the bride made her entry under a phoolon ka chaddar that complemented her outfit. Her cousins held the chaddar for her. The wedding rituals followed after that. The main events that marked the wedding were exchanging varmalas, taking pheras, tying the mangalsutra, and putting sindoor.

After the wedding, the group picture was turned into a fun shoot with the family members showering flowers on the newly married couple.

When it was time for Vidhai, the couple left in the floral buggy as they began their new journey together. The family members gave them a warm send-off for a happy beginning!

And while this wedding saga was unfolding, we made sure to capture all the joyous moments and turn them into lifelong memories for the couple and their families to cherish!
