All weddings are beautiful. While it is fun & play to experience traditional rituals, a ceremony's charm brightens when an individual adopts his/her significant other's culture with utter grace and happiness.
We observed this at Vedha and Barthélémy's colourful cross cultural wedding at ITC Gardenia, Bangalore.
The Swiss-French groom looked heads-over-heels for his bride Vedha, daughter of a Malayali mother and a Tamilian father. The sportive attitude of the groom's family graced every occasion that took place over the two days.
The Wide Smiles Say it All
With beautiful orange draping and yellow flowers spread across the venue, the bride's squad was waiting in anticipation to welcome their guests.
Upon arrival, the bride and the groom's families embraced each other with garlands and hugs, marking a positive start to the auspicious ring ceremony.
The large white billboard was decorated with the couple's pictures - both from their childhood as well as from their courtship. This little nostalgic trip encouraged wide smiles and chatty discussions.
The event commenced with the traditional Tamilian ritual - Oonjal or the Swing Ceremony. With wedding garlands around their necks, the ever-smiling couple proceeded towards the Oonjal (Swing) and took their seat.
Vedha's aunts lit the event up by singing traditional songs. During this event, the couple was showered with an abundance of love and blessings from the families especially Barthélémy's family that went through the participated with zeal.
We're sure you'll agree that these ceremonies are incomplete without friends capturing candid moments for social media posts. And we can say that the couple's squads surely didn't disappoint them! Working as unofficial candid wedding photographers, we spotted multiple cameras working on getting the perfect shot from every angle!
As the sun started settling for the night, we took advantage of the natural lighting to capture the couple from various frames. Keeping in mind that no Indian wedding is complete without a traditional wedding photography album.
I DO!
The big day was here!
With the groom all dressed in a white kurta and dhoti, he visited his wife-to-be to help her assemble the set of white gajras in her hair. The beautiful coordination between Barthélémy and Vedha's mothers reflected mutual love and respect for one other.
Just before the couple was scheduled to head over to the stage, we caught them for a beautiful shoot against the picturesque views of the Bangalore wedding venue, The ITC Gardenia. The beautiful contrast of the traditional Indian attires worked fantastically against the venue's backdrop.
The groom entered with his family, all dressed in traditional white sarees and kurtas. The bride made a stellar entry with her colour coordinated cousins and friends, all holding lighted lamps.
Proceeding to the main wedding - the varmala was followed by the saptapati ceremony. The couple, with the aashirwaad of their parents, took their vows as they walked together the seven rounds around the holy fire. The wedding was complete when Barthélémy tied the mangalsutra around Vedha's neck, and the families embraced each other with warm (& tight) hugs.
As Bangalore wedding photographers, we truly enjoyed every bit of this wedding saga. We wish the married couple all the very best for this new chapter of their lives!
